PURCHASE SPECIFICATION
E C Aluminium Rods
1. Scope:
This Specification covers the requirements of E.C. Grade Aluminium Rods produced by
continuous casting and rolling for drawing into wire for electrical conductors.
The rod
shall conform to the requirements of IS : 5484 ?C 1978 as given in Clause 2 to 5 below
and shall also satisfy the additional requirements laid down in 6, 7 and 8.
2. MATERIAL:
The material shall have the following chemical composition.
Constituent Requirements
Aluminium (Minimum) 99.6%
Silicon (Maximum) 0.13%
Iron (Maximum) 0.30%
Copper (Maximum) 0.04%
Titanium + Vanadium ( Maximum) 0.02%
Manganese, Zirconium ( Maximum ) 0.01% each
& Chromium
Suppliers Certificate shall contain
3. QUANTITY:
The Aluminium shall comply with the following requirements:-
3.1 The conductivity of Aluminium shall be not less than 35.38 S.m/mm2/61% IACS at
20oC (corresponding to maximum volume resistivity of 2.8264 micro ohm ?C cm at
20oC).
3.2 At a temperature of 20oC, density of Aluminium shall be 2.703 gm/cc.
